As per the new yourk times link above the Supreme Court of the United States has removed the last law that limits the showing of sexually explicit and otherwise "obscene" materials online. They cited it as an unconstitutional restriction of free speach. The availability of filtering software for parents was also a major factor. For the first major time in my memory the responsibility for keeping certain content away from kids has shifted from producers/hosts of said content (like myself or deviant art for example) square onto the shoulders of parent. The Supreme Court has embraced, for one reason or another, what I like to call the "Raise your own kids!" philosophy.
As an important sidenote restrictions on content like those emposed by DA are still legal. But they are now in place solely based on the personal preferences of the private entity. Meaning they are no longer atempts to comply with any laws. So while any removals DA may empose are entirely within their rights, such removals are them exerting their personal opinions now. Not them enforcing any unused US law (as it was before).
^_^ Oh Happy Day, we can treat each other like adults again!
